I can hold everyday conversations in English, and I&#8217;m interested in Spanish \u2014 though I only know a handful of words so far.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_love_for_vehicles\"><\/span>A love for vehicles<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I&#8217;ve always been obsessed with cars and motorcycles \u2014 a typical boy in that sense. From as far back as I can remember, I loved riding shotgun while my dad drove, pretending I was behind the wheel. The traffic-law booklets my parents brought home at license-renewal time were among the few things I actually read as a kid.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Mid-size_motorcycle_license_at_16\"><\/span>Mid-size motorcycle license at 16<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I wanted a car license, but in Japan the first license you can get is a motorcycle license, so I took it as soon as I turned 16. I barely studied for the written test, but it was easy for me and I passed on the first try.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With a license in hand I of course wanted a bike, and I ended up riding a 250cc Kawasaki Balius II. I&#8217;ve been enjoying riding ever since.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Travel\"><\/span>Travel<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Probably thanks to my parents, I&#8217;ve loved traveling since I was small.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"First_solo_trip_Hokkaido_by_motorcycle\"><\/span>First solo trip: Hokkaido by motorcycle<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During summer break in my first year of university I took my first solo trip: about 20 days of camping and touring Hokkaido by motorcycle, ferry included. That was the start of my real traveling life.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The following year I upgraded to a 750cc Kawasaki ZR-7S and went back to Hokkaido, this time riding from Tokyo all the way up and back under my own power.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"First_trip_abroad_Thailand_Cambodia\"><\/span>First trip abroad: Thailand &#038; Cambodia<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My first self-planned trip overseas was to Thailand, using Khao San Road as a base and going on to Cambodia to see Angkor Wat. Cheap, friendly, and full of great encounters.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_year_off_a_homestay_in_Canada\"><\/span>A year off &#038; a homestay in Canada<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After my third year of university I took a year off and spent part of it on a homestay in Canada.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Sports\"><\/span>Sports<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When asked about hobbies, I usually answer baseball, mountaineering, skiing, or traveling \u2014 depending on the mood.<\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Baseball\"><\/span>Baseball<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I played baseball from 5th grade through university, so I&#8217;d say I&#8217;m reasonably athletic.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Current_cars\"><\/span>Current cars<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the moment I drive (and DIY on) a BMW X3 (F25), a BMW X5 (G05), and a BYD ATTO 3.
