Here is how long the download plus the install took, along with what is in the release notes.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you missed it, here is my post on <a Download done.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That&#8217;s roughly 40 minutes from start to finish, much quicker than the 90 minutes it took on home Wi-Fi last time.<\/p>\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_Much_Mobile_Data_Did_It_Use\"><\/span>How Much Mobile Data Did It Use?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I think I burned through about 5 GB of tethering data that day.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My phone runs on Japan Communications&#8217; Reasonable 50GB plan, which costs \u00a52,178 a month (approx. $15). With 50 GB plus calls at that price, I honestly think it&#8217;s unbeatable.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Install_Estimate_Was_40_Minutes\"><\/span>The Install Estimate Was 40 Minutes<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When I got home, the car screen was offering to install the update. The right side shows Cancel Update with 01:54 left.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Around 15 minutes in, it had reached 60%.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">About 50 minutes after it started, I checked the app again. The release notes already showed 2026.26.6.1. The real content is the 2026 Summer Update (2026.26.6), and the release notes had a long list of new features. But it stayed on this screen even within range of my home Wi-Fi, so Wi-Fi alone may not be enough.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Wrap-Up\"><\/span>Wrap-Up<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For 2026.26.6.1, the download over phone tethering took about 40 minutes. The install estimate was 40 minutes. It was already done when I checked 50 minutes after it started.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The download was finished by the time I got home, so I could start the install right away. The trade-off: I used about 5 GB of mobile data that day.<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This post only covers getting the update installed.
