Two months into owning my Model YL, I’m happy with almost everything inside the cabin — except for one thing that kept bugging me: the center console. A cheap Model YL console organizer turned out to be the fix.
Both the front tray and the armrest bin are just needlessly deep. Tossing stuff in is fine, but drop a key or any small item in there and it sinks to the bottom, so you end up fishing around with your hand every time.
The space efficiency is poor too. For all that depth, it never felt like I was actually using it well.
That’s when I found this two-piece center console and armrest storage set on AliExpress. Installing it made things far more usable than I expected, so here’s the whole story — from unboxing to install to how it actually works.

The package arrived. Simple packaging, as AliExpress always is.
Inside were two trays — one for the armrest, one for the front console. That’s the full set.
The product is listed as “Center Console & Armrest Storage Box 2pcs,” sold for the Model Y Juniper / Model 3 Highland. It fit the Model YL console perfectly.
The price was ¥1,860 (approx. $12) after a coupon, down from a ¥2,126 (approx. $14) subtotal. For two pieces, that’s more than reasonable.

Here’s what I bought.
Two spots to install: the front console and the armrest
There are two spots to fit this console organizer: the front console closer to you, and the armrest bin behind it. Both are just deep, empty voids from the factory, so the idea is to raise the floor and make them actually usable.
The overly deep armrest becomes far more usable
Let’s start with the armrest. From the factory it’s a deep, square box, as you can see.
You just drop the tray in from the top and you’re done. It raises the floor and makes the bin shallower, so getting small items in and out is instantly easier.
The tray has a slot at one edge for routing a cable, so you can bring a charging cable up from the USB port inside the armrest.
Once I actually laid some items in it, the shallower depth made everything easy to see and grab. It’s a different world from before, when things sank to the bottom.
And the space underneath isn’t wasted, either. Lift the tray out and you can still reach the deep space below. Everyday items go in the upper tray, rarely-used stuff goes underneath — a neat two-tier setup.

Next, the front console. This one is also just deep from the factory, but it has a 12V accessory socket inside. I keep a USB adapter plugged into it.
I fitted a tray here too. Like the armrest side, it has a slot for a cable, so you can route a charging cable up from the socket cleanly.
And this is the part that impressed me most. The front tray is built to slide toward the back inside the bin, so you can shift it and reach items on the lower level without removing the tray at all. You get the upper tray and the lower space at the same time, which noticeably boosts how much you can actually store.
Wrapping up
For ¥1,860 (approx. $12) for the pair, the payoff was surprisingly big. The console that used to be too deep to bother with is now a tidy two-tier space on both sides, and even the cable routing is cleaner. It’s polished enough that it wouldn’t look out of place as a factory feature — honestly, I’m a little puzzled it isn’t standard on the Tesla Model Y.
With the trays holding this much, even the sunglasses holder I bought separately might see less use. I figure sunglasses and the like can just go under the armrest.
